The SkinVision app is at the core of the SkinVision service. Empowered by a highly accurate AI-based algorithm, it combines cutting-edge technology with best-in-class dermatologists expertise and support. The SkinVision Service algorithm has a sensitivity of greater than 90% in the detection of the three most common types of skin cancer (Malignant Melanoma (MM), Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) and Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)) and a specificity of 89% on SkinVision’s user population. How Accurate is the SkinVision App?
The SkinVision app has been proven to help detect skin cancer with high accuracy, both in clinical studies and real-world use. It’s a certified medical device used by hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, helping them take control of their skin health.
Backed by science
Our largest clinical study – called the ACCURACY study – was carried out with Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands. Here’s what it found1:
- 87% of skin cancers were correctly detected.
- 80% of harmless skin spots were correctly identified as low risk.

Proven in daily use
In addition to clinical studies, the performance of SkinVision is continuously evaluated using real-world data from everyday users. For example, in 2024, our internal quality checks showed2:

- 89% of harmless spots were accurately identified as low risk.
Impact on everyday health
In a large real-world study3 with CZ Health Insurance (Netherlands), over 18,000 people used the SkinVision app for a year. Compared to non-users:
- SkinVision users had more skin cancers caught early.
- They were 32% more likely to have a skin cancer or precancer diagnosed.
- They also visited dermatologists more often – even for harmless spots (a sign of proactive health behaviour).
